I'm Kalyn Bonn the Student Success Coordinator in the Asian Pacific American Cultural Center. I was adopted from Chongqing, China in 1997 when I was 8 months old, by my mother. As a recently graduated Masters student in the Ethnic Studies program I had the opportunity to explore concepts of beginnings, in-betweenness and, belonging as a transracial transnational adoptee in the U.S. My time at CSU is where I have been able to critically think through my experiences as a transracial adoptee. Reflecting on my childhood, and tensions growing up in a white family and predominately white areas in CO. I think finding community at CSU is one way to continue to grow, learn, and be in community with other adoptees who may feel the same way.
