To the right of this, there is a digital illustration drawing of a person with a beige skin tone, black hair, and is wearing a white shirt. They have one arm rested on the bottom of the flyer with their right cheek leaning into their other hand, propped up. At the top middle reads: “Not Your “Little China Doll”” in a script-like black colored font. Below that is a light pink colored text in all capital letters that reads: “The Fetishization of APIDA Women”.
  • Image Description: Square flyer with a peach pink colored background. In each corner of the flyer are white accent borders that accentuate the corners. At the top middle of the flyer reads the heading: “Defining it:” in a burgundy colored text. Below, is burgundy colored text that reads: “Fetishization of Asian Women-”, followed by a definition in black colored text that writes: “The fetishizing of Asian women is when someone has an almost if not always exclusive preference to have an intimate and often sexualized relationships with an APIDA-identifying woman”.
  • Image Description: Square flyer with a cream colored background and a rose pink border running horizontally through the top part of the flyer. On the pink border at the top reads: “Where did this idea even originate from?” in white text. Below this, on the left side of the flyer reads: “After the First Opium War” in a burgundy heading. Following text says: “European and other Western military forces wanted power over port cities in China and Japan (Roblin, 2017). Orientalism- the depiction and mocking of East Asian culture.” This has sub bullets that give examples of: “Art and objects; Geishas- sexualized by these depictions” A second heading reads: “World War II, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War” The text below it says: “Prostitution and brothel-like places surrounded Western military camps (Lamothe, 2014); Most interactions that soldiers had with Asian women (Chan, 2003) involved this prostitution.” The next bullet lists “Stereotypes began to form: Small, pale-skinned, submissive “china dolls” (Chan, 2003).” On the right of the flyer are two photos. The one on top is an illustration of a Geisha, who has pale, white skin and their hair tied up into a bun by a red hair tie. They are facing forward with their heads slightly turned, with their hand positioned directly below their chin and in front of their chest. They are dressed in a blue striped piece of clothing. The bottom photo shows two Comfort Women for the U.S. military in South Korea. They both have their arms crossed over their chests and are looking away while they are surrounded by four different soldiers, who are all looking at them.
  • SLIDE 5: Image Description: Square flyer with a white background and a dark peach pink colored border running horizontally through the top. There is white text on top that says: “Here are some things that I’ve heard…” In the white space of the flyer, there are three different chat bubbles elements. One is in the top right and has the following quote: “I’ve never been with an Asian. Gosh I want that experience.” The next chat bubble is in the middle left and reads: “My little sushi roll.” The last chat bubble on the bottom right has the quote: “Also to be honest, I love foreign girls.”
  • Image Description: Square flyer with a mauve pink background. White text at the top reads “What is the harm?” Below, there are three rose pink colored clouds with varying text inside of them. The first cloud on the left has text that says: “More likely it is that they [Asian women] are to be vulnerable to unwanted sexual advancements and harassment (Chan, 2003).” The cloud to the right reads: “Women may not be seeking the help that they may want or need. And internalizing such experiences may lead to increased levels of stress, depression, and anxiety. “Are people with me for me?”” The cloud on the bottom has white text that says: “These stereotypes may cause women to not want to report these cases because they are already seen as weak, so they self-fulfill those characteristics assigned to them by society (Chang, 2006).”
  • Last Slide: Image Descriptions: Cream colored square flyer with auburn text at top that says: “Where do we go from here?” In a beige colored shape in the middle of the flyer has burgundy text filling it up. It reads: “The fetishization of APIDA women and women of color is a real issue. It impacts how we view ourselves, how others treat us, and the relationships we have with others. It is important to have these conversations so we can encourage others to bring an end to the fetishization of Asian women and other women of color.”
